What is IMC?

Some of your might have heard a buzz word called IMC and not sure what it means. IMC stands for Intergrated Marketing Communications. According to IMC- The Next Generation by Schultz & Shultz (one of the leading authors in this field), IMC is a process through which companies accelerate returns by aligning communication objectives with corporate goals. This is an excellent book but I found a more tangible definition on the Northwestern University website back in 2007 describing its graduate program in this field.

According to the site, Integrated Marketing Communications is a customer-centeric, data-driven method of communicating with consumers. IMC-the management of all organized communications to build positive relationships with customers and other stake holders-stresses marketing to the individual by understanding needs, motivations, attitudes and behaviors.
